Vanessa Saldivar is honored to join GOL! as its new Executive Director in April 2021. She is a proud immigrant from Mexico and an avid outdoorswoman with an abiding commitment to equity, access, and authentic community engagement. Vanessa brings a breadth of experience to her role from over a decade of work with children and families in private, public, and nonprofit settings. She also brings a heartfelt appreciation for the transformative power of nature-based experiences and a personal understanding of the barriers many families face in accessing the outdoors. Outside of work, Vanessa loves all forms of outdoor adventuring, especially snowboarding, backpacking, rock climbing, and mountain biking. She also enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with her husband and two mischievous dogs.

Becca Katz served as GOL!’s Community Learning Director for Lake County School District (LCSD) and Get Outdoors Leadville! for 4 years before stepping in as GOL!’s Interim Director in January 2021. As Interim Director, Becca head up GOL!’s search for its next leader, helping GOL! move into the next phase of success supporting the Lake County community’s vision for culturally-responsive nature-inspired experiences. As Community Learning Director, Becca worked with teachers, administrators, and staff at LCSD and local outdoor programming providers to design and implement outdoor experiences to enhance learning and culture-building efforts in our schools. Outside of work, Becca enjoys biking, camping, being outside in any fashion, cooking, eating, talking, hanging out with friends, and spending time with her hilarious husband, Eric, magical little girls, Clara and Nora, and silly pup, Arty.

Beth Helmke was privileged to serve as Get Outdoors Leadville!’s Director in its initial years from 2017-2020, overseeing GOL! administration, development work, and capital and infrastructure projects through the first phase of GOCO’s GenerationWild program implementation. In January 2021, Beth elected to move into a supportive role in order to welcome in new leadership energy for GOL!, and now assists with grants management and program evaluation in a part-time capacity. Her work with GOL! combines her love of outdoor adventuring, public health research, youth programming, servant leadership, the nonprofit sector, and Lake County’s amazing natural assets. Beth has worked in research, nonprofits, and education administration for the past 20 years – but never with an organization quite as awesome as GOL! Outside of work, you’ll usually find Beth cheering on her husband and kids in their various pursuits, out on the trails running, hiking, and biking, seeking new far-flung travel destinations, volunteering, or just goofing around with her adventurous family and two ridiculous mutts.

Tim Best is the Out-Of-School-Time (OOST) Programs Director for Get Outdoors Leadville! Originally from Charlottesville, VA, he grew up romping around the Blue Ridge mountains and Shenandoah National Park. He has been working with Lake County youth since 2015, both as Site Director for Project Dream at West Park Elementary school and as Camp Director for Rockies Rock. Nothing spurs Tim’s enthusiasm like leading kiddos in enriching and active outdoor experiences and adventures! He directs all out-of-school-time programming for GOL, including Rockies Rock Adventure Camp, Project Dream days (currently second-day yellow phase programming), and the After-School Adventure Clubs. When he’s not working, you’ll find Tim doing his own alpine adventuring, now romping around the mountains of Central Colorado. He has an affinity for beastly-long ridge traverses and Winter ascents, often with the GOL team!

Jackie Radilla is the Community Programs Manager for Get Outdoors Leadville! Jackie manages the GOL! Gear Library and is the friendly face behind the equipment lending and community outreach efforts. Her experience with inventory management, youth programming, and event planning is instrumental in GOL!’s work. Jackie was raised in Leadville, and graduated from Lake County High School and CMC Timberline Campus. Jackie began working with the kids and families in the Lake County community through Full Circle over 10 years ago and still loves it to this day! In her spare time she enjoys rock climbing, biking, crafting, and gazing at the stars.

Mary Palumbo is the Nature-Based Learning & Youth Pathways Lead for Get Outdoors Leadville!. Mary works with teachers and administrators to ensure all Lake County students have opportunities for authentic, outdoor fieldwork at school and oversees GOL!’s Youth Pathways programs, providing local youth a chance to develop knowledge and skills in the outdoor industry through paid internships. Mary loves introducing people to new experiences in the outdoors, and believes that it’s never too late to try something new! Mary has been working in the outdoor industry for over a decade as an environmental educator, raft guide, snowboard instructor, zipline guide, and climbing instructor. Mary’s favorite things are quiet snowy trails, a good cup of coffee, and making art!
