What are Adventure Days?
Adventure Days (formerly known as “Fun Fridays”) are day-long programs when Lake County School students don’t have school due to teacher trainings. They emphasize fun, connection to nature, exposure to new outdoor activities, and positive community building. These are similar to a day of the Rockies Rock Summer Camp. The programs generally run from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. but specific details will be sent out prior to each day.
Dates for the 2018 – 2019 School Year
October 22nd, December 7th, January 18th, February 19th, and March 15th.
The deadline to enroll is 2-weeks prior to each program. However, if you have missed the deadline but are still interested, please call Cisco Tharp at 719-293-0445 to find out if we can accomodate you.
Who are Adventure Days For?
Adventure Days are for Lake County Youth of all backgrounds who will be in grades K – 6 in the 2018-19 school year. No outdoor experience required! We have a capacity of 90 students each day.
Homeschool students and students who live in Leadville but attend other schools are welcome to join!

Can you tell me more about the Ski Lessons?
This is a three-lesson package that includes ticket and daily equipment rental. It is a terrific value and affordable way to try skiing, or improve skills. Participants must sign up for all three winter Adventure Days to participate in the ski lessons. This is the equivalent of Ski Cooper’s Panda Classes. They are for never-ever and beginner skiers. At this time, we only offer ski lessons, not snowboard lessons.
How much does it cost?
There are 3 tuition levels for Adventure Days. We ask that you pick the highest tuition that your family can afford to help us keep operating! No income verification is needed.
- Minimum Tuition: $10/session
- Reduced Tuition: $20/session
- Full Tuition: $35/session
**If cost is a barrier to participation, please contact Cisco Tharp to discuss options – 719-293-0445**
How do payments work?
We require a minimum $10 payment to fully reserve your spot in the Adventure Day. After that, we will send you a monthly statement, and we ask that you pay something (even a small amount) each month. We ask that you pay the remainder of your balance by the end of the school year, so we can close out our books for the year.
You can pay by credit card on the enrollment site, or by cash or check at our office, Room 14, Pitts Elementary/The Center Preschool, 328 w 5th St, Leadville, CO 80461. Checks should be made out to Lake County Government.
What is provided? What must students bring?
GOL! provides lunch and snacks at no additional cost to students who sign up for the food option. Students are also welcome to bring their own food (healthy, nutritious food & beverages encouraged). GOL! provides all activity equipment such as bikes and snowshoes. Students must bring personal items such as clothing, a backpack, water bottle, etc, though Get Outdoors Leadville! has some gear to loan if a student forgets something on a given day.
